One question, “What is an industrial design object globally recognized with real impact on society?”, opened a rabbit hole so deep that at this point it is an essay in the making. I came up with a list of three things, one of them being the Monoblock. At first I thought I had only ever photographed it once, and I remembered that particular picture, so I went searching for it in my archive. To my surprise, there were more Monoblocks photographed than I expected.

“Whenever you see one sitting beside a bus stop, outside a shop, under a tree or on some forgotten patch of pavement, it is telling you something very simple: People want to sit here. And the municipality failed to provide a place for them to do it. So citizens solve the problem themselves. For five dollars, you can become an urban warrior. Buy a chair.
