I love cameras. I can geek out about gear for hours. I know what each custom button does on my gear. And I might have an issue collecting old analog cameras.
But all these dont add value to a production. It takes three days to fully understand the functions of a camera and editing has become a proces of simple, cleare prompts.
The real value is knowing what needs to be made before you start making it.
- Knowing the right questions to ask.
- How to get a genuine answer from someone who hates being on camera.
- What the business is actually trying to achieve.
- What footage marketing will need three months from now.
- And how to turn one shoot into 15 useful assets instead of one pretty video.
I love cameras. But clients aren’t really paying for the camera.
They’re paying for the thinking behind it, and for someone who can solve a communication problem with the right story, in the right format, for the right audience.
